Tragic road rage shooting claims life of 4-year-old boy in California; suspect charged with murder

United States: A four-year-old boy, who was sitting in the backseat, was brutally murdered in a road rage shooting. The preliminary information revealed that a California man was charged in the case by the police officials.

According to prosecutors, the man opened fire on a family who was out to buy groceries and ended up killing the little boy.

The accused has been identified as Byron Burkhart, a 29-year-old man. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office emphasized that he has been charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, one count of shooting at an occupied vehicle, and five counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, as per NBC News.

How exactly was the little boy murdered?

The prosecutors outlined that the incident occurred on a part of Sierra Highway in Lancaster in northern Los Angeles County during the time when Burkhart and his girlfriend were driving and allegedly cut off the vehicle of the victim – who was with his mother and father.

The Los Angeles County medical examiner has identified the little four-year-old boy as Gor Adamyan. Following this, the prosecutor narrated that Burkhart allegedly “engaged in aggressive driving maneuvers and road rage,” according to NBC News.

Support for the Adamyan family!

An online fundraiser has been initiated to support the Adamyan family. The fundraiser mentioned that the accused allegedly cut off the family’s vehicle and then started chasing through the streets, following which started shooting.

The district attorney’s office mentioned that Burkhart fired eight (8) shots into the car. The parents were saved from the barrage of bullets, whereas Gor was struck in the backseat. After the child was shot, he was taken to the nearby hospital for emergency medical assistance, but he lost his life there.

The authorities associated with the investigation of the crime revealed that the incident was captured in a camera, which also revealed the license plate of the Burkhart vehicle. This data was revealed during the news release by the District Attorney.

District Attorney – George Gascón outlined that the shooting incident was a “senseless act of road rage.” Gascón further stated, “A family is facing unimaginable pain during what should be a joyous time this holiday season.”

According to the reports by NBC News, as of now, accused Burkhart has been held on a US$ 2 million bond. He will be charged on Monday, January 22. Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office underlined that if convicted, the suspect will be charged for life in prison.
