China, which is reportedly the developer of the deadly Coronavirus, is now experimenting with another virus – resembling SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). The reports have claimed that the new virus will have a mortality rate of 100 percent.

It is to be noted that the medical experts working for the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) have developed a “pangolin coronavirus.” The latest version of the virus has shown a 100 percent mortality rate in mice.

The report regarding this new discovery has been published in bioRxiv. The study has revealed that the new virus – SARS-CoV-2- related pangolin coronavirus GX_P2V, was tested upon a group of mice, and its effect was surveyed closely. It is to be noted that the test showed shocking results which indicated potential dangers and risks “of the virus spilling over onto humans,” according to First Post.

Some of the severe symptoms displayed by the infected mice were sluggishness, white eyes and rapid weight loss. The majority of the symptoms were shown within four to five days of getting infected from GX_P2V. All the infected mice died within seven to eight days of infection. Further, the research mentioned that the latest virus has been directly impacting some major body organs, such as the brain, eyes, and lungs. It has also been uncovered that the virus mutated at a significant pace in the brain during the last two days of life.

The research paper read, “In the mice infected with live virus, the viral load in the lungs significantly decreased by day 6; both the viral RNA loads and viral titers in the brain samples were relatively low on day 3, but substantially increased by day 6. This finding suggested that severe brain infection during the later stages of infection may be the key cause of death in these mice,” according to First Post.

Shocking result by research!

According to First Post, the impact of the virus on mice came as a shock for the scientists who were working on the GX_P2V. One scientist outlined that the result that the virus attacked critical organs such as the brain, lungs, and eyes made the virus a topic of concern.

Further, after conducting the study, the experts underlined that there is a high risk that the virus could enter humans – creating a threat of another deadly pandemic.

However, the experts emphasized that further research will be conducted to investigate the pathogenicity mechanism of the newly developed virus, GX_P2V, and how it will affect human health.

Possible impacts on human health!

The experts are highly concerned about the implications of the GX_P2V on human beings; the prime reason behind the concern is the 100 percent mortality rate. Furthermore, the involved scientist underlined that the brain infection, developed before a few days of death, is known to be the potential cause of death.

In response to these concerning discoveries, scientists would be performing more tests using the actual virus found in nature instead of the lab-made version. This will help them better replicate real-world situations and understand the actual danger posed by GX_P2V.
