In the midst of the same, the health authorities have asked the public to get their vaccine dosage against the flu infection. The concerns and worries regarding the respiratory illness have increased after the local health authorities reported first-ever pediatric flu-related death on ongoing flu season.

During the ongoing flu season, the nation has reported approximately 93 flu-related deaths among children.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), recently shared a flu surveillance map, which ranked the states of the United States in order of medium, high and very high flu activity. According to CDC, the state remained at a “high” activity level for second consecutive week.

After witnessing such a high number of cases, health experts have emphasized that the only way to attain protection against the infection is vaccination and early detection of the disease, as per the reports by wxyz.com.

While emphasizing the recent death in Michigan, the local health authorities declined to comment on the details regarding the child who recently lost his life to the flu.

What do health experts have to say about the recent death?

A physician assistant at Medcare Urgent Care – Roni Auob, mentioned, “Our hearts go out to the people who lost their loved ones to anything, especially this family who had to endure this horrible, horrible loss,” as per the reports by wxyz.com.

Along with this, the ER physician at Medcare – Dr Hassan Akel stated, “Over the past few years, we have been seeing a late spike of flu cases at the end of the season which is unusual.”

Additionally, concerns were also raised by Dr Ali Shuayto, who outlined that the flu can become dangerous for children, having weak immune system due to an underlying condition.

According to the reports by wxyz.com, Shuayto mentioned, “Sometimes that’s kind of the case where you will see a pediatric case come in and their case just declines rapidly and exponentially and you’re like, ‘how’d this happen? This is just the flu. Why is it so bad in this patient?’ and usually there is some underlying condition.”

The health expert further mentioned that parents and guardians must prefer early treatment if their child catches flu or influenza.
